Politics, thats why, no-one wants to shoot the golden goose. All those wonderful pillars of our society are being fed bundles of bucks by the oil companies, big Pharma, big corps., etc. Good luck getting a peoples bill out of that lot. We've been sold down the river my friends. It is no longer a democracy, but a theocratic plutocracy, an oligarchy if you will, but definently not a democracy. The will of the people don't mean squat. With Bushs' buddies and their voting machines, I doubt we'll see an honest election in the future. The Repubes tried to skew the last election but such massive voter turnout by Dems, foiled the plot.
