Hi. I'm from California. Its a good, relaxed atmosphere when it comes to marijuana. Right now people have pretty well learned most stoners mean no harm. But really pot has been " decriminalized" in California for 20 years i.e. No jail time for under an oz, so there is definitely an acceptance for it. If you have a Drs. prescription, you can pretty much smoke pot anywhere, but I've been smoking 20 years in California with out a prescription and I have never once been harassed by cops. They just dont care any more.
Once in a while you will see someone getting in trouble for marijuana possession but it is very rare. They have their hands and jails full with the meth heads. If you have a prescription you can literally grow pot in your front yard. The cops dont care. That prescription protects you a lot but you wont get arrested without one.
I didn't realize how well we had it here in California until I started reading posts on this board from other states. Boy, some of those guys have it rough! Seriously! California rocks!

both so. cal and nor. cal are pretty lax on weed, but nor. cal's bud is better priced and its a bit more relaxed in terms of cops harrassing you.

Northern Cal. Up in the mountains. And you are right, No. Cal,and So. Cal are definitely different. I guess I cant really speak for So. Cal. Sometimes it seems they are 2 different states! But still, I dont think pot is much of an issue in California as a whole. I've smoked at lakes and beaches in So. Cal with out any problems. If anything they just tell you to keep it down. If only we can keep the Feds from raiding the Marijuana Dispensaries! ( which they LOVE to do!) And, yes. We have great weed and great prices up in No. Cal! Almost everyone grows something,somewhere!:rasta:

if its under an ounce and they cant find that youre tryin to sell any(i.e. you dont have multiple baggies/containers and/or a scale) its $100 ticket(or less). not on your record and its less than a seatbelt ticket.

Yeah. Every once in a while you'll read where someone got a ticket for marijuana possession with out a prescription, but usually something else is involved, ie other drugs, drinking, being a general ass wipe, etc, but for pot alone most, not ALL of course!, most California cops will give you your weed back( or save it and smoke it themselves !) and send you on your way. Not really enough cops to monitor all the California pot heads. Hell, most of them smoke pot too. At least most of the ones I've come across. Maybe I'm just lucky!

So cals laws are very lax...prices aren't so great though, but the bud is. Cops could give a fuck less if you are smoking weed. And yeah just get a prescription if you are even worried. Oh, and it's VERY readily available. If you look like you smoke chances are someone will ask if you want to buy some, or if you ask anyone around half or more will have a connect you can buy from.

California definitely has a "wink-wink" culture about pot. Some of your best pot dealers are business men in suits! I've met VERY few people in California who havent at least tried marijuana. Its just the culture here.
Oh! And beer! Californians LOVE beer!
