Actually the best thing to do in that situation is if you both kept silent. Don't incriminate yourself, ever. Let lawyers do the talking. They can get very creative if you don't give piggies ammo.

When do you think it is an good time to be a snitch ... A friend of mine was recently arrested (for having 7 ounces on him) and of course the cops asked him to snitch ...
