Hi,im trying to see how green my thumbs are and i have a few questions, and please before i get flamed remember this is my first time growing ANYTHING,i mean really my potato in water in grade school died LOL. Anyway,so far i have germed these bag seeds in paper towels left in a baggy for 3 days,i got sprouts about an inch to an inch and a half long on some. Also i wasnt sure if it helped but i did it anyway,i know plants thrive on CO2 so i exhaled in the baggy, figured it couldnt hurt. Anyway i put the sprouts in individual 4 inch pots (17 sprouts/pots total) filled with just potting soil, and i gave them what i would say is a good amount of water,i didnt soak the soil but it is pretty wet. This is basically where im at,i have them all on a tray out on the patio waiting on the sun,so my questions are:

How often should i water? I have read that watering when the soil gets dry on top and i have heard everyday.

Should i have added nutrients to the soil? I bought miracle grow but my brother who grows regulary inside said no,but again he is an inside grower so i am not so sure i should follow his directions.

At what point should i transplant the babys to the earth?

Before i transplant, should i treat the soil w/nutrients? Should i dig holes and use my own soil i bring along with me to fill in the holes then transplant?

At what point will i know which of my plants are male or female? I want to get the males out at the soonest possible point, also could someone post a pic of how to tell the difference? This is why i have so many,i want to make sure i get some females out of this.

Also i have heard that the longer the "sprout" at germination the worse off the plant will do,is this true? From what i have been reading the closer the sprout to the seed is when you want to plant them, but i did as i have read and waited 3 days.

Any help with these questions will help me alot,i want to become self sufficent to stop payin crazy prices for something that i hear doesnt take alot to do myself. I have read alot of posts in this forum and have learned alot just some questions i have no answers for. If this gos well,i intend on posting my results in basically a "How To" with pictures at each step when it is all complete. That is what the forum is missing i think, something like that would help guys like me.
