why use hydro?
I love this question and I just thought of a new plus too after reading chrissy's thread.
Pros
Plants grow alot faster in hydro and generally seem to do better with bigger yields.
No dealing with soil
No watering issues. Too much? Too little? This one is HUGE to me.
Issues are seen and can be fixed early in hydro if careful watch is kept.
It's MUCH easier to change a res full of solution if there is a ph or nute problem than it is to flush the soil.
Cons.
Can be expensive depending on how many extras you want to throw into the mix
Hassle to check ph, nutes levesl etc...daily....this MUST be done....so it requires more energy I think
If there is a problem or issue it can down your grow very quickly as there is less room for error in feeding etc..
Need access to water nearby...both to get it and to dump it.

why use hydro?
I've been growing hydro now and I f'd my plants up. I plan on doing an organic soil grow next time. I feel that the soil allows for more room to make mistakes than hydro. Plus dealing with hydro seems messier than soil. On the upside the crappy hydro setup I have right now has made the plants grow pretty fast.

I'm installing an automatic drip system for my coco grow (yes, coco is essentially hydro) just to keep my plants happy when I have to leave town for a few days.
I also like this system becuase it still has plenty of flwexibility to hand-water if necessary -power outages can mess with a dro grow; my buddy lost an entire crop that was being grown in an aero system when we got an ice storm.

Hydro the only way to go , automation , on the internet.
You can leave your plants a month at a time.
If you like something to play with , cut a hole in you pockets. :wtf:
Pot is not a romance its grams /watts/ months flat out math.
You can have a crop in So. Calif. and be in France for a few weeks.
now the bottom line amout of grams of output, divided by watts, divided by months.
As far as pounds per plant, vedge a plant for 1 year and then bloom.
With a 3 part system its down to my 4 harvest will be on which day.
Automation, and hydro = pot power:thumbsup:

why use hydro?
wtf
..but seriously, i like the DWC idea, and it would be pretty chill to build a bucket bubbler; i think i'll start with soil just cuz i won't have ready access to water and drainage; and i think i'd like to keep the mothers in soil, just so it's harder to kill them; but i think i'll build a basic bucket bubbler and throw a clone in and see how it goes alongside a couple soil plants
if you're running those airpumps 24hrs a day, how much electricity do they use?1
