I wonder what would happen if each platoon or regiment..or whatever their called..had a guy or 2 that would smoke some weed before combat. This might boost their creativity allowing them to give valuable ideas to the leaders. Anyone think this might work...or would it just mess them up...

You pose an interesting question...I reckon,that alot would depend on the type of weed,that a soldier smoked..however-the first duty of a soldier,is to follow orders..and not be yapping in the superior's ears..especially during combat. Also,things that make perfect sense,when you're stoned,are sometimes ,absolutely ridiculous,in the real world...lol.

There may very well be,soldiers that are gittin stoned over there..I bet that there's afghani hash and kick-ass weed available over there,much more so-than in Saudi,where drugs can git ya a death sentence..if you're not careful. I know that soldiers in the Vietnam war,got high on some dang good weed..but I'm not sure how well they functioned in combat,while stoned. I've seen several movies that depict stoner soldiers,as being mostly un-reliable,or too gung-ho..or just plain nuts...lol.

As a veteran,I myself,would probably not be stoned,while on duty-especially when the lives of my fellow soldiers,depends on me being able to react quickly,calmly and logically.

To my fellow veterans and soldiers: What say you ?

proberbly not much the goverment did a study back in the early 1900's on the effects of pot smoking on US soilders stationed in panama and found no adverse effects.
more info about the study are in the book 'The Emperor Wears No Clothes' by i believe Jack Herrier (could b wrong about arthurs name)

That is an interesting topic. I personally would never be high in the combat zone. You need to be 100% alert and anything that would slow my reaction time down could get me killed.

I agree with ya,and it's not just yore behind on the line either,it's also your fellow soldiers,who depend on you.

I tell you what-I cracked up laughing,when I read SomeGuy's idea,of having a stoned soldier,jabbering away at a unit commander,with his stoned ideas of how to prosecute the mission...lol. Ithink that the only way that would work,is if everyone in the unit was stoned..lol..the stoned soldier's ideas- would make 'sense' to them ,then...lol.
