    how does my plan sound?

Ok I'm a first time grower so I'm looking for some professional opinions on my plan. I really wanted to grow outdoors but the more I read, the more I realize that (living in indiana) I don't think the plants would grow very well. Plus if I did then I would have to grow them during the summer which isn't too great. Then I realized that if I am creative in teh ways that I always am about not getting caught with weed or being high, then I can surely figure out a way to grow in my house (my whole family lives here. My dad and my two (14 and 16) brothers live here. So here's the plan... I am really just wondering if you guys think this will work and if you have any suggestions.

    1. The seeds -- I have about a dozen or so seeds that I have collected over the past month or two that I have been keeping in my room. None of them are from any high end strains or anything. Just from the industrial stuff around here. Probably about right in the middle of the spectrum. Maybe a grade or so between fire?

    2. Where I will grow -- Ok my room is in the basement. People come down here but not that often and only to see me in my room. There is a room in the back corner that is only used for storage. It is rarely entered. There are tupperwares stacked up with all our old toys. I've emptied out one of the tupperwares, put a lamp in it, put the lid on but not all the way, and stacked the other tupperwares back on top of it. Takes about 2 minutes to get to it when everything is put back up.

    3. Germinating -- Right now I only have a incadescent 75 watt lamp in there and I placed it with my seeds. The seeds are in between 12 (6 on both sides) sheets of paper towel. Hopefully they will germinate in the next 24 - 48 hours.

    4. Growing -- I am about to make a trip to wal mart and will be buying 2 or 3 pots. Planting soil, a flourescent lamp, and maybe a timer depending if they have them and how much they cost. I will also look around the garden section for anything else that looks handy (your help would be greatly appreciated). After the seeds have germinated, I will place them in the pots with the flowering soil and also replace the old lamp with the fluorescent ones.

That's pretty much all I got for now. I figure that will get my started and then I can research/ask you guys/think of where to put them when they start getting taller. I am thinking of keeping 2 of the healthier onese in the tupperwair and maybe cutting out the bottom of the tupperware on top of it so they have room to grow. Then I will finde a place in our deserted woods (in the middle of 3 corn fields with no roads leading to them. Atleast 1/4 miles from any road or house or anything). I will replant them there.

So... do you guys think it'll work? Any other suggestoins?

i don't think you should have light on your germinating plants

    can you lock the cab?

what happens when someone does come down there to the cab?

    what about odor?

i'd guess that you probably won't be able to get away with it without anyone knowing, but i guess it's up to you

would your fam be very much against it? keep in mind that you could easily get them in trouble if you were busted; i don't think it's cool to grow in someone else's house without their permission

it's my house too. Once the plants are off to a good start... maybe a foot or two tall, I am going to trasnfer them outside because I hope that they will be strong enough to survive on their own. I live on farm ground and it's getting warmer out so ya. I just want to konw if you think they will grow. I can take care of hiding it just fine. BTW I read that germinating seeds have to be warm so that's why I did it.

    bump/update

Since I'm low on cash I couldn't get a new lamp, but I got one of the energy saving fluorescent bulbs for my current model

Uh? Indiana is FINE. Last time I was there I could have sworn I saw feral hemp growing alongside the highway. Summer is the ONLY time to grow outside in the high latitudes... ???

Outside, start to finish. Or in your own house when you move out.

Incandescents have no place in a grow

Yeah. Don't disrespect your parents. You want to grow in their house, ask them.

NO, it's not. Is your name on the mortgage? Is your name on any of the utilities? Do you give your family a few hundred dollars a month to help pay all that shit? Didn't think so. So shush.

Not gonna get a foot or 2 tall under little lights.

Listen kiddo, there's a time and place for everything, and this is not your time to be starting any form of indoor grow, no matter how temporary.

If you want to grow, build a small temporary guerrilla greenhouse just big enough to get your seedlings going, somewhere not on your parents' property.

Seeds want darkness, warmth, and wet.
Leaves want light of a certain spectrum, not incandescents. At the least, FLC's. A couple of hundred of actual watts (not "its just like a normal 100w bulb") watts.
You mentioned nothing about ventilation. All lights give out more warmth than the plants like. HPS lighting demands a hundred or so bucks in vent and drilling two holes in your cabinet.

Whether what youre doing is right or wrong morally, I dont know. In my Scando country, I seriously doubt the parents would get into trouble.
