I call my dogs cute names! And I call my husband Doobie. Does that count? Does that make your insides curdle?
I tend to get churned about other, heavier stuff than cutesy names. I use them on others, and they're welcome to use them on me if they want.\"That best portion of a good man\'s life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.\"

The names I use on folks are only on people I know really well and vice versa. I rarely have mere acquaintances use such names on me.
I generally make some sort of play or alteration to people's existing names. Dave (Davy) easily converts to Doobie, for instance. Our son, who has a slightly different version of his father's name, has gone by "Sonny" his entire life. Those are more nicknames than cutesy names, I'd say.\"That best portion of a good man\'s life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.\"

Well, Slip, is it OK, then, if I begin to refer to you as PookieBear? I'm going to find it hard to forget that name . . . .
