first ever grow
Hi thanks for looking in,i got some white widow seeds given to me,so i thought i'd give them ago.Now these where planted and placed in a greenhouse while i got a cupboard built. Now these seeds came through on the 16th and have been in the cupboard for the last 6 days under 400w lights on a 18/6 cycle. The seeds are in compost and are watered every other day,now i'm hoping someone can advise me on how there doing at the moment.I've got the temp between 75 and 80 in the cupboard, sometimes tho it can go up to 90 which i open the door a jar for abit of cool air to get in.I've added a vent to the roof and a vent at the bottom of the door,i've also got a 6" fan in the cupboard which i turn on around 1pm till around 10 pm just to help the stems ect.So if anyone can give me some advise on these that would be great,i'm going to get some of that superthrive tomorrow and give it ago, also when should i look at feeding my plants or is it way to early yet.
These pictures were taken yesturday,i find the plants dry out alot or maybe they just look dry to mechill_out Reviewed by chill_out on . first ever grow Hi thanks for looking in,i got some white widow seeds given to me,so i thought i'd give them ago.Now these where planted and placed in a greenhouse while i got a cupboard built. Now these seeds came through on the 16th and have been in the cupboard for the last 6 days under 400w lights on a 18/6 cycle. The seeds are in compost and are watered every other day,now i'm hoping someone can advise me on how there doing at the moment.I've got the temp between 75 and 80 in the cupboard, sometimes tho it Rating: 5

looking good so far sounds like your on the right track. Usally about 2 weeks into the plants life it will start to need some nutes. start off with small amounts and work your way up so you dont burn them.
if the temps are gonna stay high like that i would make a home made co2 kit. they are quite easy to make.and will allow for they high temps and help increase growth.
the high temps are causing them small containers to dry out very quick
I would transplant to something bigger soon those smaller containers will limit the growth of the plant.

you can use superthrive at every watering just make sure you only get a drop per gallon or less or you plants can start to twist kinda odd. ass far as nute well there are a lot out there. do you have a hydro store near you or not. Some pure blend pro would work good for you.

Compost is pretty hot stuff for seedlings and I'd advise you to get them out of it if it's not too late as they'll most likely burn if allowed to stay where they're at...especially if you start adding ferts any time soon.
SuperThrive is good stuff but is not needed on seedlings unless you're transplanting them and will get expensive if used every time you water. Use an additive such as SuperNova to keep the trace elements up in your soil and other hormones/vitamins instead of the ST. It's much more beneficial for a plant that is otherwise healthy and not being moved any time soon.
Also, seeds do not need light until they break the surface...only warmth. And using a 400W is a bit of an overkill for seedlings and harder on the electric bill. I'd use flouro's while in the seedling stage...

Yes flouro's are best for seedlings. I only started using nutes after 3-4 weeks, and mix the nutes 1/4 strength for the first week or two, then half strength for another 1-2 weeks, then full strength, just follow the directions of the product for how often to use the nutes

Ok i've decked the cupboard out with tinfoil yesturday,i've knocked a hole in the shed wall and put a vent on because it's getting to hot in the cupboard,so trying to get some of the heat released outside.I've not finished that yet tho because the kids are home from school,so need to wait for them to go to bed. It's been really warm here today so i've placed the plants outside while i was working in the shed. The plants seem to be coming on a treat now will get some more pictures tonight or tomorrow.I'm still waiting for the superthrive to come and i've also got a ph/moisture meter coming so i can do checks on the plants.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to some soil i should repot them into,at the moment there in compost but wanting to put them into soil. Please bare in mind that i'm in the uk so soils maybe different here and i've only really got b&q and a couple of garden centres. When should i start looking at adding food for these,is it when i start flowering them i add ferts
