fan/speed controller
i have a 600CFM cage fan, its blows way too much air and is noisy as hell, is there a easy way to make one of perhaps even something i can buy fully working out the box?
i read a few times due to the wire wrapping in the motor that a controller can eventually render the fan uselss, anyone have experience with these?
its sounds like a tornado when plugged in and thats just isnt going to work at all.invision Reviewed by invision on . fan/speed controller i have a 600CFM cage fan, its blows way too much air and is noisy as hell, is there a easy way to make one of perhaps even something i can buy fully working out the box? i read a few times due to the wire wrapping in the motor that a controller can eventually render the fan uselss, anyone have experience with these? its sounds like a tornado when plugged in and thats just isnt going to work at all. the Speedster
The Speedster Fan Speed Control | Fan Accessories
works great i have one. All you gotta do is plun in the fan to the control, then plug the control in.
Edit: Actually that might not work for your type.

i use computer fans.....i know you said ready out of the box but these are so ueasy to wire.....you take a cell phone charger or dc charger hook up the wires until it runs.........DONE..I have two fans running off one DC charger and it works perfectly....perfect amount of intake and exhaust for my grow box..
also they run so quiet i barely here them at all if you stand perfectly still and dont breath you can here from about 4 ft away.....past that its stealth.

I've been researching fans for a grow box I just built. Fans are available in just about any size and speed you want. The basic rule of thumb is to calculate the volume of your grow room (length x width x height) and get a fan that will allow for three air changes per minute. You can google "in-line fans" and find anything you want - including all the stuff you need to hook it up.
Good luck!!!.

All of this is just pretend. But if I grew marijuana, it would be in strict compliance with California Law, SB420.

I'll second that notion; a $10 dimmer switch will solve the problem, just don't run it on too low of a setting, the fan may overheat.

eh, it will work, it's overpriced though; and looks dated. try a local hardware store/depot.
