ph problems w/ Miracle Gro Organic Choice

Really, if it is on they way...wait. I used the baking soda, and hated it. Boy , I just went through all this, and it feels like a flashback !Those soil testers are crap, so I wouldn't take your measurement as the holy grail. If you need to water, you could go buy distilled water -we know the ph is 7 for this, BUT your water is 7.2, which is VERY close and you can just use that-...water your plant, then ck the runoff ph with your new meter. Then you will know your true ph of your soil.

Then you can see if you really indeed have anymore problems. You can always flush (water plant with three times it's container size, til runoff is clear) well instead of using the ph up if you are in a complete hurry! Your tap is almost perfect!

Let us know if your soil is in fact that low, before you do anything crazy...lol

Bree, you can save yourself a ton of $$ and use a Brita water filter to bring your high PH down to a 6-6.5 by only running tap water through it! I've been battling this desert water for many years now and until I found out about Brita's water system I either bought bottled water or used PH down products which both are a pain in the ass! I bought a 2nd filtering pitcher a few months ago to cut down on the filtering time...they're only 16 bucks at Walmart!

I saw those at TSC, AND SO WANTED TO BUY ONE!! does it cut down on the other sediments in the water as well? I have a lot of calcium iron rust.

    Sorry for hijacking the thread!

Yes, once tap water is run through the filter it's crystal clear. The label says it also removes 99% of any chlorine along with 99.9% of particulates...

It truly is a miracle gadget!

Ummmm....my humble opinion on Britta filters. They aren't worth the money.
Running my well water through a britta actually raised the ph.....started at 8 and ended up over 10. Also I have a ppm meter and my well water is at 150-170 ppms. After Britta...ppms 60-75. RO...10-15. My hydro guy (whom I think is God)really tried to discourage me from buying one.....in his view the britta merely takes out the good minerals (calcium, etc) and leaves the bad stuff in. I didn't listen to him at the time.....but sure did later.

PS Bree I will be happy to send it to you if I haven't run over it with my car or something if you'd like it.....for free.

NO. I am sorry these other members are not paying any attention to you.

You don't ph soil. If you want to buffer soil...you use pulverized dolomitic lime.

Otherwise you just ph your solution. and water. In your case you claim a ph of 7.2 from the tap. I would just use that, and let the soil balance itself out.

I use a 90 $ ro-unit off ebay 4-5 stage, and have had it for 2 years. Great stuff. Ph always stays consistent.
