ph problems w/ Miracle Gro Organic Choice
i'm using miracle gro organic because i thought it was a good choice...many ppl have said mg is a bad idea...i was wondering what ppl thought of the organic version. the reason i ask is because i'm having acidic ph problems which i thought would not occur with their organic product line.this is what the site says about the organic choice...do u think its the reason i'm having the ph problems
This product is regionally formulated with organic materials (derived from one or more of the following: forest products, peat humus, or compost) sphagnum peat, composted manure (in Florida, cow manure) and pasteurized, pelleted poultry litter.
Total nitrogen (N) â?? .10% â?? (This product contains .097% slow available nitrogen.)
Available phosphate (P2O5) â?? .05%
Soluble potash (K2O) â?? .10%
My question is was this a bad choice...i thought mg organic would eliminate the problems associated w/ regular miracle grow....btw does that mean the soil is 10-5-10 or 1-.5-1...thanks for any advice and let me know what you think about this soil choice...i've also been adding pure blend gro once a week at 1/2 strength...thanks for any advice

The soil is 1.0-.5-1.0.. What is your pH? It is probably the peat moss it is very acidic. You can add wood ashes... They are full of potassium and are alkaline. You could also go buy some better soil and mix it half and half.

awesome...great advice...i'm gonna buy a couple bags of foxfarm and mix it with the miracle grow organic choice until then i'll either get some lime or try the wood ashes...my ph is between 5-5.5...so i'm rather troubled that it got that low...this is my 1st indoor grow so i've never really dealt with ph

ph problems w/ Miracle Gro Organic Choice
I mixed organic choice with hyponex sterile soil bag to bag, and added extra perlite. Using pure blend pro. And had Absolutely no problem! I grew a NYCD, a Cali Orange skunk, and an Afgani. All 3 grew beautifully. I added just water for 2 weeks then alternate water, and PBP. With my well water. I add PBP, and get 5.9 ph.
I totally do recommend Miracle gro organic choice. I think you have other issues that won't be resolved by buying overpriced foxfarm soil.
1. Are you adjusting ph of water/solution before adding to pot?
2 Why did you post a query titled ph problems?; Yet never once mention the ph value of your overflow???
3 What is your ph?

ph problems w/ Miracle Gro Organic Choice
I started my plants in regular mg potting soil with time release ferts and also had an acidic problem. pH adjusted my water to 8 the first 2-3 waterings and then runoff was ~6.5. Transplanted into Scotts soil with phosphorus and have been using pH adjusted water since and pH has stayed ~6.5.

1st ...using organic soil you shouldn't have to nute at all. 2nd. Ph for soil is 6.5-7.0; So, you don't need to do anything, but lower it just a bit. (your tap water)
5.0-5.5 is the problem of all oyur problems. WAAAAAAY TOO LOW. Peace
back later.
