    Basic Fan Questions?

    Hi,

I'm looking to grow inside in a very small area, and I need some fans to keep the area cool (Compact Fluros so shouldn't be too hard). I'm thinking on using computer fans as they are cheap and easy to get, but how do you recommend hooking them up to the mains (if at all). Or does anyone else have a good idea on what fan to use. I can't use desktop ones as they'll still be too big - noise is a factor as well.
Cheers in advance for any replies. (Don't worry I'll stop asking these questions soon, I've got a couple of grow books on the way).

    Basic Fan Questions?

hey ya comp. fans dont move alot of air. you have to put them in the wall of a closed box for them to be effective IFE in the frame of your floros.. look for something like a clip fan you can get them at walmart or home depot.

if you do use a comp fan you have to remember that they dont use alot of poer so you can just plug them in your burn the fan or worse catch the house on fire.

*raises hand* caught my mother board on fire once by forgeting to install a transformer when i added a larger fan. that sucked balls!

you might wanna try a solar fans i made one for school once you can get everything you need at your local hobby shop i know that will work and be damn near slient!

i used a solar powered fan to push a 6oz toy car 50 feet with dim lighting, so try to reuse the light! let me know how it works for ya.

also by compact flour do you mean PC? (power compact)

    this is a PC light

It's one of those little envirolite 125w. Sopposedly they're good for small conditions. We'll see.

P.S. I'm going to try out that solar fan idea. I've found an online store and ordered a kit (£12 inc P+P) just to see what it's like. It'll be £12 well spent if the fans work well enough so I can cut the running costs & noise & cabling. that's a great idea man - never mind the enviroment issues.
