First cloning attempt .
Hey all ,
Been at this hobby for prob. 15-18 yrs off and on but have yet to ever attempt to clone anything . With a lil help from Stinky though I think we have it whooped . These 3 cuttings were taken 4 days ago "Swiss sativa / Super Skunk x N/L . No viseable roots yet but you can see new growth from while in the humidty dome . Hopefully this is a + sign ?Any comments ,tips feedback is much welcome .
Thanx Stinky
Peace

i think perhaps you should have removed more leaves as they are draggin the stem down. anyway, good luck

If you are seeing new vertical growth very early in cloning, the plant has too much nitrogen left in it and your light intensity should be decreased as well.
You may have rooting probs if the plant has decided that it wants to grow leaves, not roots.
Watch temps... with the summer coming on, I just lost a run of clones when my dining room hit 90'F while I was at work... CRAP. This method seems to work best of all when ambient room temps are in the upper 60s and the heat mat warms the inside of the dome just right, not above ~80'F.
I just went and picked up a quart of wilt pruf concentrate and plan to do a dip on the next run, with a couple drops per gallon bleach added to slow down fungal growth.
I will keep you posted.

We cut bk . on N all together ,
There is 2 - 26 w. cfls. in cabinet now , well get rid of 1 of them -n- see if it helps . Should bigger floppy leaves be left alone or axed ? Are they gonna be prone to rot etc... ?
Peace

i leave them, they die on their own, and then i pluck them off. i try to cut as little as possible until they have rooted...
hope that helps...
also, my clone table sits eight feet away from my 400w mh, and that seems to be perfect for rooting.

Hello crispi I have experimented with with two cloning methods since I got back in the hobby and both have worked well. There both similar.
The last one I tried I like because it is very simple, the clones take around
14-20 Days to show there first lil roots using this method. Ive had a 100% clone rate from it. Here it is you place the clones stem in a container of distilled water , changing the water once a day in the container. After You see a the first signs of lil white roots at the bottom of the stem (they will very tiny white lil things a few milimeters big) you'll place the plant in a soil/soiless mixture that retains water well because with very little root the more water the better.
One benefit of this method is there is very little wilt of the plant hardly any at all, hell I didnt even use a humidity dome,i just foliar sprayed the clones with distilled water once or twice daily, and changed the stems water every day.
You will notice if you try this method some of the lower leaves might turn pale yellow a couple may even brown but then the plant will kick into "survival mode" and drop its lil roots , the part that is amazing is once you place it in soil after you see those first little roots and the clone starts getting nutrients from the soil, those yellow little leaves will start to fill up green again. And thats when you know its developing a roots system.
Also I dont use any root growth hormone ,I just cut the stem at an angle.
I hope your clones turn out well.
Anyone else clone the way I do? Im off to see the wizard. lol

I have heard people having really good results with rootdoctor's method but I've never tried it.
xcrispi, I took a bunch of new cuttings last night using the clonex and rapidrooters and this time instead of humidity dome + misting, I made up the recommended 10:1 dilution of wilt-pruf and added ~4mL of copper based fungicide to a 20 oz volume of wilt pruf working solution. Then I shook it up like crazy and used it to dunk the entire cutting into. I also took more clonex in a dropper and sort of filled up the rest of the holes in the rapidrooters with it. Just an experiment, lol! What I noticed this morning is:
-no wilt at all
-some leaves are showing the signs of suffocation from the gooey wilt pruf, little dark translucent green patches on the underside of the leaves. It doesn't look too severe and unless it gets wose, I'm not worried.
My big thing is, I want to see if the copper solution inhibits rooting or harms the cuttings in any way. I'm just sick of mold, since my temps are so high at this time of year, and it has been a problem the last run.
