Tell yourself to deliberately NOT smoke! Nothing in life that is worthwhile comes without a bit of effort. If your friends are smoking around you and you personally don't start, you can take pride in your self-restraint. If you go to the gym or whatnot (I have had the most success with 2 things, getting a job that involves physical labor, and joining a cycling club- neither feel like a serious workout, just GOOD), you can take pride in that too, and bonus, you won't be so down in the dumps.

if u can think of only 1 positive to smoking then its not worth it...what happens when u lose the weight, u probly wont stop smoking..if uve been able to stay away this long, y cant go anymore? the body doesnt miss what it doesnt have to begin with..my entire family, all my friends cept 1, all my co-workers smoke..ive taken 2 drags when i was 16 just to see what it was like and im done forever..ill tell u from experience, u make every other person around u suffer- whether it be second hand smoke, the smell, borrowing money for em...its not a good thing

    BAD BAD BAD life decision.
Its coming up on a year of quitting this summer and I am so so so soooooo happy not to be chained to those fucking disgusting death sticks. Please don't start smoking. With every cigarette you smoke you will feel worse and worse about yourself. Get up and get moving. No matter what physical activity it is your doing you will feel good about yourself for doing something positive. Something about exercise is just so rewarding. Killing yourself is far from rewarding.

instead of smoking cigarrettes to loose weight, how bout you go out for a run or something? itll be better for you and you wont risk dying, seems smarter to me. and if youre worried about getting addicted, STOP FUCKING SMOKING. it really isnt that hard not to

The truth about tobacco is that it is the world's worst drug that can cause cancer and death.. over 400 chemicals which deserve to be made illegal or atleast criminalised. Cannabis has caused no deaths ever in history and is the best drug in the world.. pure joint is the healthiest smoke you can get..

hmm its kinda hard to explain..

The one positive motive is that it would help me to lose weight, and seeing as weight it the biggest cause of my depression at the moment im just about desperate enough to try it..
Also im fed up of pussyfooting around tobacco.. whenever i smoke it.. like with weed or when drunk or whenever.. im constantly wondering if i'll get addicted.. what it'll feel like and all that.. i cant be fucked with that anymore..

im not stoned or anything right now.. so if that didnt make sense its just because im confused..

    *sigh*

    any thoughts?
    I haven't read the whole thread but my 2 pennies are;

    A) It may help you lose weight...but would you rather die or be overweight? And at any rate, should you ever decide to quit then you'll put the weight straight back on...Ain't worth it.

    B) Being addicted to cigarettes doesent feel like anything...you just feel crappy when you don't have a fag. Weed you smoke to feel good...cigarettes you smoke to stop feeling bad.

Moral of the story, don't start smoking tobacco...i did and i wish i never had. Trying to quit now but it's easier not to start in the first place.

Don't start smoking cigarettes/tobacco. You'd have to be foolish to really do that. They're a leading cause of/contributor to:

    Lung cancer
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (emphysema and chronic bronchitis)
    Cardiovascular (heart) disease
    Erectile dysfunction**

**No one ever points this out, but it's true. Ask any cardiovascular physician or urologist, the ones who're most often asked to prescribe Viagra and drugs like it.

Cigs also contribute to poverty. They ruin your health and make you poor. Just say no. If you want to lose weight, get some exercise instead. That'll do just to opposite of what tobacco does with the health conditions above--all of them.
