American influence on Canadian politics The American government seems to have too much of an impact on Canadian politics, and it tends to piss me off. The Liberal government we had until last year were somewhat corrupt (who isn't?), but at least they were pretty aggressive in trying to remain independent politically, and stood up for themselves in the softwood lumber dispute.
