Spots with high grass, weeds, brush etc. are usually really great grow sites. Clear out a small patch and dig it up and turn it down real good. The full texas sun is great but bone dry dirt is not. Add organic amendments and water crystals to the planting area to maximize retention from the rains. Carry in water during a drought if you can. Grow it indoors under FLs or in containers outside in a sunny area until it's at least 6-7" and growing real healthy and strong, then plant it in the outdoor site.
