Putting weed in foods

I just bought a dimebag of weed for 420, although I have nothing to smoke it out of. Its my first time, so I was just wondering (this may sound like a dumb question) but can you spike it in drinks or any food? or does it need to be mixed in in order to actually get a high? When you actually are high, are you in control? and how does it make you feel?

I am thinking about using the cannabutter in an alcoholic drink that requires butter, like hot-buttered rum?

It will work but you need to use a lot of weed.

I believe that if your the type of person that doesnt want to use up a lot of weed in your recpies then I say stick to smoking...
