Ipod Problem

earlier today i was listening to music and watching some south park on my ipod when i noticed that hte battery was getting low so i decided to plug it in and let the battery recharge. So after about an hour i click on the safely remove hardware icon and i wait until it says its safe and i remove it and try to turn it off but it wont let me. So then i press menu and it says do not disconnect and that stayed on the screen for like ten seconds and went back to normal. And now 4 hours later the do not disconnect is still on the screen and i dont know what to do. Any help or suggestions on fixing this problem would be appreciated

yea man your absolutely right, i actually went to best buy earlier today and a guy there showed me how to do what you just describied.
