Mandala #1 bud.....it's purple!
BlackBerry: This guy is legit. Everything he (OFY) said makes sense according to all the grow books out there. You need to re-read what he said so you can understand it more clearly. Please don't insult other members of this board (calling them dumb ass and schwag smokers).
Allow me to clarify the situation. When you are growing indoors, you start with maximum lighting (24/0 or 18/6 depending on personal preference), correct? That's what this guy did. He planted the seeds inside his home, and grew them for five weeks at 18/6. According to every grow book out there, that's what you're supposed to do. The 18/6 lightcycle tells the plants that it is summer and time to go 100% vegetative growth.
Then he decided to flower the plants. The usual method of doing this indoors is to change the light timers to 12/12. The plants see the new photoperiod and think that it is autumn (days getting shorter, nights longer, etc) so they go into flower mode. But this guy figured out that at his Texan location, the natural LENGTHENING of the days happened to match up with the SHORTENING that he wanted to tell the plants. So instead of turning the light bulbs to 12/12, he just put the plants outside so the sun could give them 12/12. Cheaper on the electric bill!
Essentially, this guy's grow is a simple winter indoor grow with a summer harvest. He just utilized the natural sunlight to save some energy costs on indoor lighting. Is that so hard to understand? The plants still went from 5 weeks 18/6 to five weeks 12/12... it's just the 12/12 is outside, that's all. His clones will be normal outdoor crop.
