I asked out a girl from my psych class today to go rock climbing with me this weekend and she said yes. I asked her out because shes cute but I know absolutely nothing about her. I find short first dates easy because keeping someone verbally entertained for a while is pretty easy. The only issue is that it takes a full hour to drive to the canyon, any tips for keeping the ball rolling the whole time? Ive only ever asked out girls I knew pretty well in the past.

Well... girls love attention... so, you can just start any topic, pay all the attention you can, comment, make jokes, listen, and mainly be really interested in her. Try to ask her opinions, feelings, use this oportunity to know her better. With moderation, of course, for dont seem annoying. If everything goes ok, you will not even realize the time passing, and will wish the canyon were much further...
But, above of all, keep your mind cool. If she feels youre at ease, much probably she will become too. Relax, and go with the flow. Its the better way.

well done youve got balls, i suggest music in the car, everyone likes some sort of music so see if you have similar tastes and if not quiz her on what shes into like you really want to know.
should be pretty easy i reckon since youve never talked to her there will be loads to talk about on the way, start off with the common ground - your college / uni classes etc.

Bring one of those HUGE CD binder things with a ton of different music in it and have her pick the music... guaranteed that will get a conversation going.

and if this goes onto a long term relationship, you're fucked because she'll like you for the person you were trying to be and not the person you really are.

What a pimp, those are some skills there. Start talking about movies and TV, or school. School is a little lame though, just ask her about her pets/hobbies/likes and boring things you really don't want to know.
