    care in the nursury

I had 2 babies. They are side by side under 24/0 in 3" peet pots.
They both still have their polypropiad (sp) leaves.
in dies in the middle of the night when i woke up to mist it it was wilted and dead all shriveld up. the light is about 16" from it there is no direct heat.

the second one was heading for a wilting death but i caght it in time. why are they having a hard first week?
I start 30 seds to get 2 to sprout and then i am lucky to get 1 to plant.

I personally have never understood the misting thingy. I have worked with 18 different strains so far, not once have I misted a plant, not at Germination, first set of leaves, nor into haevy veg mode. I know folks that do and all, but I dont understand it.

If your medium is moist, they are fine. When it dries out, I water once from the top down, once from the bottom up (only filling the saucer), before an uppot, a whole root dunk.

2 outta 30, man something is wrong, I can only work in seed lots of 3 beans at a time. When looking back at my grow logs, more than half the time I get 3 females per cycle and have never purchased a feminized bean.

Just a suggestion, since your having problems, try this, go to WalMart, greenhouse, DYI store and buy a small bag of Started Mix, @ about $3.00. I found egg cartons to start seeds very nicely, just fill with Starter Mix, and wet it, poke a single wee hole in the each egg holder site, let sit over night, under your light, next AM, plop in a bean in each egg site, 1/4/1/2 inch below SM,lay a piece of plastic wrap over it, and wait, 2-3 days with your light on unlees your space is to warm, 80-90 degrees is ok for germination.
You dont need light to germ, just providing heat at this point.
After my first set of leaves, I turn back the light to 20/4...after 2 more sets of leaves 1/4-1/3 strength of nutes. 5-7 nodes, turn back light to 18/6.

I'll tell ya something else.....one of the best things I ever did was to remove all blowing air in my nursery. I had always believed in the *it strengthens your stalks...you must have a fan!!!* NONSENSE! Nute management, and proper food and water, at proper times, strengthens your stalks. It's been almost 6 years since I quite blowing wind on my girls...with the exception of late flowering, I do put a fan into the canopy of a thick budding girls to stop bud rot...thats the only time for me, and what a blessing for the noise issue.

Good luck man, just restart...I've had to so many times learning also.

Foliar feeding is great... I just started using liquid karma as a foliar feed and it works surprisingly well. Especially for my clones...
