    feminized bag seeds

i was just thinking about the chances of getting female seeds from the ole 1/8 bag. female seeds are made by getting a female plant pollinated by a hermie, right?

So, if you have a bag of some good weed and find some seeds in there, the chances of those seeds being feminized seems larger than what i previously expected. Hear me out. If the weed is good, the grower is most likely more experienced. The only reason a seed would be in an experienced grower's weed is if there was a hermie that they didn't catch early enough. so wouldn't this seed then have a good chance of being feminized? does my logic make sense or am i just crazy. the last few bagseeds ive used have all been female and it got me thinking.

just thought id share my thoughts. I'm high

Feminized seeds are made by spraying female plants with gibberellic acid. This acid makes a female plant produce pollen. Hermaphrodite pollen typically isn't viable. But it is POSSIBLE.

actually there are acouple ways of making female seeds. the gibberellic acid way, hermied seeds(which are more likely to be female than male but have a better chances of being hermies themselves) and some new way GreenHouse Seeds is advertising...not sure if the GH is credible though.

my last bagseed plant was from a hermie seed.(messed up the first grow), most of the seeds were female, but in the end.....they still sprung up nut sacks.

yeh keeko is right there is more change the seed will be female but more chance it will turn hermie.i think serious seeds femanized seeds are created by collecting the pollen from hermies and using it to pollinate other female plants not the female that turned hermie but hey you can only try. best of luck the postman.

    Ditto Dave ,
By not using the self pol. plnts beans , but another female you have manually pol. = better chances of not being herm by 50% . I did this last grow after paying 144.00 for their genetics , I mean their beans . LOL No herms yet either 3 ppl. on site are currently growing them out being "guinea pigs" - so to say .
    Peace all

    This is not accurate.
The gibberellic acid treatment forces the plant to turn hermaphrodite, and the resulting pollen IS viable.
Female simply don't produce pollen; they have to grow male sex parts to do so.
You can also force hermaphroditism without the use of hormones, by exposing a female plant to light stress, heat stress, or allowing it to ripen far past the usual harvest stage.
By using the stress method, you then do not have to throw away a plant rendered un-smokeable by the application of a chemical substance.

The original idea of a high chance of feminized seeds in bagseed is legitimate; however, a commercial grower most likely has his shit locked down and is not stressing his plants, so any resulting herms were NATURAL herms and carry the trait to go herm even under optimal conditions... go ahead and play with them but for fucks sake DO NOT breed these seeds!!!!

if you breed it with ANYTHING you will get fem seeds.
As long as you stored it properly.
If it got wet, or was stored warm for too long, it's not viable any more.

Kinda a interesting topic... Stinky Just so you know....

When i planted 2 SmashBerry and 2 Papya,,,,

I got all females, And it was pretty Hot at times during their Veg Life.,.. perhaps I got Lucky or I got some good dang seeds...

As well the Papya Is a perfect strain So far in flowering it has barly stretched at all. Do you rember this in your test crops? Or do I have a special plant I should clone?

the Smashberrys have stretched a good 6 to 7 inches where the Papya has maybe grown 3

Ither way its working out well for me.

Cool, the male in that papaya F2 was a sticky bastard. I wish I still had him.
And I do remember that the girls never stretched out of control.. not the SHORTEST plants I've worked with, but still good. If the internodes are short and stretch is limited, clone that girl... My friends told me to switch over my WHOLE operation to nothing but Papaya after smoking some of it... VERY yummy strain.
As for all females... weird... those crosses were made with actual males, not herms. PROMISE.
When choosing a smashberry F2 mother if you decide to go that route, pick based on structure and hardiness above all else; it's a nice tasting strain but one of the twitchier ones in my collection for sure.
