I was listening to Randi Rhodes last week and she was talking about a documentary by the BBC she saw called "The Power of Nightmares" .... she said it was one of those must see film and so on and so forth .... It's at the google video website so I downloaded all three parts .... and checked it out ....

THE POWER OF NIGHTMARES

The Rise of the Politics of Fear


This is a series of documentary films about how fear has come to dominate politics in America, Britain and around the world ' and that much of that fear is based on an illusion.

The films tell the story of the rise of today's nightmare vision of a hidden, organised network of terror and show clearly how much of that threat has been distorted and exaggerated by politicians.

In an age disillusioned with optimistic political visions of the future, politicians have stumbled on a new force that can restore their power and authority ' the fear of a hidden and organised web of evil which they can protect their people from.

These films show how that fantasy was created ' and why ' by telling an epic story that starts in America in 1949 and ends in the present day. At the heart of the story are two groups ' the American Neoconservatives and the Radical Islamists. Both these groups were idealists born out of the failure of the post-war liberal optimism, and both had very similar explanations for why that failure had occurred.

Both groups did change the world ' but not in the way either intended. Their actions over the last thirty years have led to today's strange fantasy of fear which has spread through all levels of government, the security services and the international media.

A fantasy that no-one questions because those with the darkest nightmares have become the most powerful.




FILM ONE ' BABY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE

It begins in 1949 with two men in America. One was an Egyptian school inspector called Sayyid Qutb ' his ideas would directly inspire those who flew the planes on the attack of September 11th.

The other was an obscure political philosopher ' Leo Strauss. His ideas would be one of the main influences on the Neoconservative movement that now dominates Washington

Both men believed that modern liberal freedoms were eroding the bonds that held society together.

Now this clown Strauss thought that making up shit to keep the people in line was A'Okay .... the war on terror is bullshit ..... it just to keep the people brainwashed .... which is what his admirers are doing today .... it works pretty well with the bushies, but as far as the rest of us .... well we are consider immoral like Clinton .... It talks about Clinton and why the neocons went after him.

Very interesting film it certainly explains the mindset of both extremes and why they are dangerous.

Hey saw it a couple of years ago i also have it on DVD witch i downloaded from ARES ultra a great movie a must see.

After watching the first half of the first program I felt compelled to email my PBS station and petition them to show the entire documentary. I forgot how much Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz had been in play before in the Gerald Ford and Nixon regimes. I guess it figures that Dubya would resurect them to play on his team. I just wonder how afraid the American people really are? Are we sheeple with peanut brains filled with self gratification? Cell phone junkies that have to be in contact with another human at all times, like that validates our self image. I guess the American sheeple have what they deserve for a government. I feel bad for my grandkids, but can already see them being gobbled up by this mindless society. They are 5 and 6 and want material things, and when they get them they are not satisfied, but want more, and more. I guess this is part of being a kid, but do we ever grow up?

Medicinal yeah we want more and more stuff and when we get it we want something else in a short time.Our kids are targets as soon as they start watching T.V and advertisers never let go.

Sorry, I don't know what that is, but I definently don't have it. I petitioned my local PBS station to run it, we'll have to wait and see what kind of an answer I get.

Now you are the type of person this movie speaks of .... someone that buys into the fear .... and you are not alone ... that's why their method is so effective. That is why you should watch this movie to see how you have been manipulated.

They made Liberal a dirty word, because they don't want people to have that kind of mindset, but as you can see their method only works with folks like you .... not all of us are easily fooled with fear tactics. :toilet_claw:

One thing is clear the politicians no longer offer hope .... but fear .... if you like the fear thing ... like the bushies .... you should be very please with the politicians of today.

After looking at the evidence of 911 I've come to the conclusion long ago that 911 was an inside job .... after seeing this movie it has confirmed my believe that these people would have no problem what so ever killing 3000 or more Americans .... not to mention the thousands of our soilders, and Iraqi civilians that have died, and will die, for their agenda.

The war on terror is a sham .... and many .... but not all .... are falling for it.:wtf:

So if you wish to continue believing in the fear you MUST NOT watch this movie. If you wish to know more about their plan for a new world order and why .... then you MUST watch this movie.

And how do you petition PBS to show a film?
I just asked them if they had heard of it and if so were they afraid to show it. And then asked them to show it and said they would probably have a large audience, and to let me know their decision. Don't know if I'll get a response or not. Yes I would be interested in down loading the entire package.
