Well, they actually set the experiment up so that plants wouldn't be getting any extra CO2. They wanted to see if the voices themselves were doing anything to the plants, since it's well known that CO2 helps them out.

Apparently, it doesn't matter if you talk nice to them or verbally abuse them, however, plants that were near music grew better than all the others.
