how much bud did it take to get this? Damn I want a kief catcher grinder. Ima try and find one at the headshop/flea market..

Don't waste your money on a kief catching grinder buy an electrical herb grinder (coffee grinders work too, but i find this more effective) and a separate sifting box WAY more crystals. It took about a month of sifting whatever i bought. Buy, grind, sift. smoke, repeat.

He say's it's a 1/4 but I was wondering if he weighed it too. Looks more like a gram to me. I recently pressed what looks to be about 3 times that much and it only weighed 3.4 grams

what you seems to have made is what is known as blonde hash which is less compact therefore less potent, blonde hash is very light.

Does the kif really burn efficiently in huge rods like that? I usually break up my hash as finely as possible in the end so I see no point in pressing my kif, just pack a bowl half full of bud and top it off with the sweet remains of my kif catcher I can see pressing a buncha penny sized discs as a better solution than this, the more surface area the better.

I break it into little balls before i smoke it, i smoke bt's.

I admit the hash I pressed was pretty light in color and dry/crumbly. I used a grinder with a kief catcher though so the process wasn't much different than yours. I wonder what made the difference. I see it took you about a month, where it took me about 6 months. Maybe my kief had just gotten really dry over that time. When I pressed mine it was very light and powdery. What was yours like?

blond hash is hash made just by pressing kief, in order to get a blacker hash i have found it a necessity to add alcohol then after pressing (i do this by hand haven't tried it with kief press) let the alcohol evaporate. it comes out as like a play-doughish substance which is quite sticky with is perfect for bt's as the hash doesn't ever fall off the cig.
EDIT: i used to own a metal grinder with a kief catcher just like yours and buying an electric grinder and a sifter makes 2-3x the crystal you would normally get.

How do you get all the kief out of the grinder or sifter? I have a metal grinder with a sifter in it and the bottom of the container is covered in a nice thin layer of kief. The thing that kept coming to mind was this rubber ice scrapper for goggles, it is like a really small spatula.

yep, a razor blade works best. I always find the side of the blade, not the sharp edge itself is better, simply because it's smaller and more manueverable.
