DONT SMOKE WEED KIDS, A NEW STUDY SHOWS PROOF OF A NEW PROBLEM
"research in rats suggests that using marijuana reduces future sensitivity to opioids, which makes people more vulnerable to heroin addiction later in life. It does so by altering the brain chemistry of marijuana users, say the researchers."

DONT SMOKE WEED KIDS, A NEW STUDY SHOWS PROOF OF A NEW PROBLEM
I thought 'sensi'ble thinkers had put pay to the gateway drug theory years ago when they worked out that people go on to harder drugs because the pot dealers also sell class A's, and therefore legalisation would stop the problem. I can't believe they're trying to resurect that old BS!!
Anyway, what's wrong with heroin?

"In order to explore how the adolescent use of cannabis affects later drug use, Hurd and colleagues set up an experiment in rats aimed to mirror human use as closely as possible."

DONT SMOKE WEED KIDS, A NEW STUDY SHOWS PROOF OF A NEW PROBLEM
is it really scientific to look at the rats brains after they have been exposed to herion and thc. shouldnt they have looked at it after just the thc and then again after the herion?how about giving the rats a choice? let them choose between the thc and herion.ive smoked pot for 17 years and never tried any harder drugs.so i call this all bs.

DONT SMOKE WEED KIDS, A NEW STUDY SHOWS PROOF OF A NEW PROBLEM
I read this while really stoned a few weeks ago (on this board), and it ruined my high completely. It pisses me off.
No drug in existence makes people use other drugs. It's all in the person's personality. If there is any drug that aids in people deciding to use heroin, it would be prescription opiates, such as OxyContin, Morphine, Oxycodone, Codeine, etc. In fact, using morphine is basically using heroin, considering heroin is nearly exactly structurally the same as heroin (except that heroin acts quicker). A drug that is completely different from opiates is not going to cause tolerance from opiates... it doesn't make sense. Cannabinoid receptors are not opioid receptors. It's different. Look at this:
Marijuana and the Brain
"Marijuana should no longer be considered a serious drug of abuse because, as summarized by the OTA: "Animals will not self-administer THC in controlled studies . . . . Cannabinoids generally do not lower the threshold needed to get animals to self-stimulate the brain reward system, as do other drugs of abuse." Marijuana does not produce reinforcing effects."
That completely contradicts what these supposed scientists have said.
They don't need to study these again--they've ALREADY been studied! These are obvious lies and fabrications, with NO research and scientific study done beforehand... so it does not have a lick of truth.
Not only that, but like others have said, most of us here would never do heroin. I've done oxycodone, but that was before I've ever started smoking Cannabis. IN FACT, smoking Cannabis helped me get rid of my addiction to opiates! How ironic, you fucking lame scientists.blaze the haze for daze
Embrace the grace of the fine herb.
