Too loose!
I have practiced over and over and over and over again. I devote an hour here and there; about 3 times a week to rolling. I have been doing this for 3 months at the least.
But my joints are too loose! I try to tighten them while I roll, but the paper gets crinkley and awkward to work with. My herb's not too dry, nor too wet- I grind it with a grinder, and my technique is as follows:
1. Place ganj in the center fold of a paper
2. Pick up paper, and roll the ganj so it's even throughout. No problems here yet.
3. This is where it begins. I keep it steady with both hands, and support with middle and index fingers, and attempt to roll it up, but the herb keeps falling out both ends, and I end up with a crinkled mostly paper "joint" with a big lump in the middle and papered ends.
Help me! Somebody help me, puhLEASE! Mashed potatos, gravy, and cranberry sauce- Whoooo!Purple Banana Reviewed by Purple Banana on . Too loose! I have practiced over and over and over and over again. unless my weed is really moist and sticky, i use about 10-20% more then i want to be in the joint (i have problems with shit falling outta the ends alot too)
where are your thumbs on the paper when you start to roll? at the ends, or in the center? if at the ends, put them in the center, and move them outward as you roll, it helps keep it even so it's not pregnant (skinny ends, fat center)
mostly tho it sounds like you're having problems getting the paper to catch/overlap... just keep in mind, when you're rolling a joint, the more you mess with it, the more is gonna fall out... try to get it even, and rolled up, with as few many 'rolls' as possible...
when you're ready to roll it up and stick it, roll it as normal, then when you get ready to actually overlap the paper, use the tips of your thumbs (starting in the mdidle again) to push the paper down into the 'crease' (in between the bud and the other side of the paper, the side with the sticky crap on it) and continue the rolling motion, but with the 'balls' of your thumbs (the joints in the middle)
edit: sometimes at this point the middle will be tucked, but the ends will kinda still wanna just go straight up, if you continue to roll it and stick it like that, the entire joint is fucked pretty much... (in the center the glue will stick like a normal joint, but at the ends, the ends [glue and non-glue] will be stuck together) instead, hold the joint in the middle and steady with one hand, and use the other to tuck the corners down, then roll it and stick it.

I only roll J's with shake, and I just roll it like a sleeping bag, roll it a bit, pack/press it down, roll it a bit, continue. Works fine for me.

I always make a second fold, about 1/4 from the bottom and ignore the fold in the middle. Also, I know it's cheating but, when I get about 3/4 to the top I put it in a dollar bill and roll it through the whole bill in the proper direction.

I dont know just keep at it. I roll now with out lossing any herb and comes out good every time. It is all in how you prepare your herb for rolling too. like you said not too dry not too wet and well grinded. I always use clear aladas or trip papers and a plug now. Check it

after you put the bud in the paper, but before you fold the paper over, touch the two sides of the paper togather. you should have basically a folded paper with bud in ther middle. roll the paper up and down in your fingers. this rolls the bud into a tight little bunch all along the fold of the paper. then make try to roll it up. basically the bud has to be in a tight tube like row inside the paper before you start to roll. thats the way i get em tight. aw hell, after reading that it might not make any sence if you haven't seen it done before. anybody else out there that knows what i mean and might be able to explain it a litlle better?

the atomic punk use his method and mine to get a perfect joint it takes time. i do it like this once at the part where u cant get it tight, i press it with my pointer fingers to keep the bud from falling out and roll it up and down with my thumb and middle finger to tighten it at the same time useing the method above me at the end u want it like at the bottom with the gum side edge at the top and then this is the most important part if u want a tight joint to keep the bootom edge with the bud pressed in place this my take a while at first but once u got it down its easy and almost automatic

I do a lot of twisting when i roll mine... i also twist mine tight so it won't be loose. Its an odd method, but it somehow works.
Twist the ends, twist the middle, twist twist twist.:stoned:

Don't worry if it gets too crinkly, you can smooth it when its rolled.

For starters use a 1 1/2 sized paper as they give you more room to mess up and more paper to roll it tighter. Trust me. it's how i learned.
