ok, so i'd rather not go with a totally nutrient-free soil as i'm a first-timer. i'll crack my northern lights seeds in water, then germinate them in soil, in Styrofoam cups with holes in the bottom sides.

anyway, i'll stay away from miraclegrow, and anything with time-release ferts, but i'm not sure what to get at homedepot. i saw a number of different soils. anything i should look for in particular? perhaps an organic soil? i just want something with light nutrients for the babies. also, i'll add a lot of perlite for the first cups to let the little ones push their little roots through

anyway, appreciate the advice. once i start with nutes i'll be using floramicro/grow/bloom
