She already knows you smoke, so she just assumes that when you leave her presence to 'play on the computer,' a minute or two later she'll be entering your room expecting to catch you smoking. Put a towel under the door in your room to absorb more of the scratching sound and keep another towel nearby to absorb the sound of you choking. You all seem surprised that his mother could hear the lighter. If the house is dead silent and his mom has bionic ears, then not even the humble sound of a lighter striking will escape her hearing. So I exaggerated a little, she doesn't even need to have bionic ears. Study sound and all that jazz, not jazz, just sound, hearing, hertz, etc. Do a test. Have someone strike a lighter in your room while you sit in the space your mom would usually occupy (take your weed with you) and see if you hear it. Listen well. I'm sure your mom's ears are intent on catching you again.

Lol, last night when I smoked I went onto my side door step and light up, Granted my parents room, is through the outside wall of our house, then through 2-3 more walls, a bathroom, and then their room, I was still paranoid that it was too loud.

my suggestion is to look around a gas station next time you're in one, look at their lighter selection, try them out, buy the quietest. they have some very silent electric ones now, i had one with a slide mechanism, was very quiet.
i smoke on my roof too
