I'm all for protest; for certain issues. I don't like it when people seem to protest for the sake of being a protester, though.

conch, you have run into the right person. I'm a hardcore activist, let me brag a little here: i go to a different club meeting four days a week-Students for a Democratic Society,Youth for Socialist Action, Environmental Students Association and The Green Party on Campus.
every sunday I stand on the corner of campus with about 5-10 other students and locals with the Eastern Shore Peace Alliance protesting for peace. every damn sunday. rain or shine for about an hour and a half.
in march i went to D.C. to protest against free trade to support FAIR trade.
i have been to about three pro-choice and NOW marches in DC and NYC. i once got arrested at once.

i did a class walk out for Darfur for Amnesty International.

i dumpster dive every thursday night to reclaim lost treasures and to fight capitalism.
i go to city council meetings.
i also fasted for five days for peace in 10th grade when the war in iraq had just begun. that was tough.
I lobby my representatives, write them letter and do just about anythign to assert the greater good.
i volunteer at a free medical/dental clinic in annapolis translating for spanish speaking patients. i love this the most.
my theory is: somebody has to do it. giving your spair change to that homeless dude or buying a peace sign bumber sticker IS NOT ENOUGH. the greatest tragedy is those who stand idly by. bitches please, i see so much apathy these days, i am overwhelmingly driven to make a difference. its my life. if you are complaining about the war or how much trash people throw out, get off your ass and do something about it. agreeing or disagreeing is one thing. acting out is another. and thats what democracy (supposedly the US is a democracy but really its a fascist merchantile autocracy in my opinion) is about: its about YOU and what YOU want to see changce. and if youre not seeing that change, so something about it. so peel off your bumper stickers and write a letter instead.

guys, this CAN BE THE SIXTIES! the problem is that nowadays we are so busy with ourselves that we hardly have time for others and we have a severe case of apathy. if you can move enough people, you can protest. when I went to my first pro-choice march in DC, i was so inspired by how many people there were and the air of change and unity and power i felt. you CAN make a difference. of you think that you can't you have some real problems. you just need to get up and work hard at it. its not as easy as buying that bumper sticker you know. if you are truely driven, you can do anything. so quit bitching and start doing. seriously guys

I did The DNC2RNC march in July/August 04, 258 miles on foot from Boston to New York.

Spent the week of the RNC in N.Y. doing all I could to make the Conventioneers lives for that week a living hell,bugged them while they ate,slept,partied,had coffee. The Sixtys Hippies wish that they had the Computer Techonalgy we do now!!!! Most Fun!!

I used to go to a lot of protests. Then I was beaten at the IMF/WB protests in '03. I was hurt pretty bad and I had to have my ankle reconstructed (for the second time). I've only been to one march since. I really miss it too. Now I'm in Baltimore and its harder to get to DC. School is also an issue. All the big protests seem to be the weekend before I have some big test on monday.

i took pictures for the critical mass on campus. i don't own a bike yet so I don't ride. i made spanish flyers for them. got a few riders to join ESA meetings.

i love the idea that we can and will protest. i don't agree with every protest that happens but the fact that we can is great. i am completley pro-life but im glad that people who are pro-choice cen have their opinions heard to. the world would be dull and boring if everyone agreed on evry issue. i say fuck it. lets meet on main street at high noon and shoot it out. lol

Protesting changes nothing, ever. Find a way to fight back against your enemies by striking something essential to them. Whining does about as much good for 1 spoiled kid as it does for a crowd of a million. Cry all you want, you think you're getting a cookie? Yeah fucking right.

you think the world ISN'T completely headed in a controlled and unanimous direction? every follows the system in place so they can waste their life on products they don't need and wouldn't think they needed if marketing wasn't embedded everywhere you look, especially the places you'd think marketing to not be (and that's when your guards are down, subjecting yourself to the friendly voice trying to help you...help you dwiddle away your life to help someone else's profit margin)
