Incondecent grow lights?
Ok, today i was down at the store checking out some lights, and i came acrost some incondecent lights for plants, and i was wondering how well those would work? i picked up some CFL lights, total of 50 watts to start out with (3 15w 2 soft, one warm) just to get me started on a few seeds, I only plan on growing one plant at a time, so if anyone could help me out, i would appricate it tons.

They are terrible, look away. Incandecents are incredibly inefficient and hot. stick with the cfl's instead.

Also, should i be looking for more wattage, or how many watts should i need for growing one plant at a time? and what is better, 24 hour light, or 16/8 cycle for the veg. stage, i know to go 12/12 for flowering.

^that's debatable, mostly people use 24/0 or 18/6 (lighton/lightoff) for veg stage. To answer your query, go for the biggest wattage you can afford....in local stores get the 42 watter if your budget allows. Or if it doesn't home improvement stores have four packs of 26wtrs for about 8-10 smackers.

they just need a big kit, have everything that you will need, seeds including, that you can pick up at walmart! go in drop a few hundred, and have a complete grow setup. if only they would legalize it, think of who all could cash in on that!

come to think of it, have you seen the commercals on tv for that Tomato Magic thing or whatever? its a bag that you hang up, and put these little white beads int he bottom, sprout a seed, and add in your nutrience. its a soilless grower.
