yeah...i think polyploid only has to do with the number of chromosomes, not leaves. A triploid has 3 chromosomes, diploid has 2. Polyploidy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The thing is, your spelling phyllotaxy wrong...and i dont even know if thats the real explaination, it doesnt say anything about EXTRA leaves, it just says that the leaf PATTERN is different.... yes polyploid means many chromosomes.

Cannabis is Diploid (two), a common mutation is to be triploid. to have 3 of one chromsosome.

This is not what is occuring.

As i said b4 this is called Trilateral branching or.......

    whorled phylotaxy

this condition Does not mean the plant will have 150% the harvest as someone said

    3 cotyledon leaves???

there are reasons these things have different terms, and ignorance make us as a populace look unitelligent, and not respectable. if we want to stand our ground on legalization issues, we need to have our shit together.
lol yeh, but we already know we are smart... so what does it matter? as long as most ppl get what we mean... which they do, when you say triploid.. not so much with 'alternating whorled phytolaxy'

its not like people are gonna see this page and all of a sudden determine that all stoners are stupid just because they didnt call a three-leafed ganja plant an 'alternating whorled phytolaxy' or w/e...

    that would just be silly...

it dosn't matter if people "get" what you mean if you say triploid

it is wrong. your promoting peopel calling things the wrong name

    i find that odd

Exactly. You can not necessarily SEE that a plant is polyploid.

Is polyploidy sometimes associated with fucked up looking leaf arrangements? Yes... single bladed or scrunched leaves can show as a result of the polyploid condition.

But seriously it IS important to call things by the correct names. Othewise why bother naming them at all? If we can't call them by their names, we should agree to call them 'those plants with 3 cotyledons' and have done with it.

Sheesh this is the DUMBEST thing to argue about. I feel stupider just for joining this discussion.

Abbatoir Dream, you're getting there, but your youth still puts its foot in its mouth sometimes.

Hey nice discussion and all including the english class. I currently have going one of those plants and its a Purple Wreck. It is at the stage its either going to show me its sex or its chop time. I am not sure if those types show faster or slower sex but it seems like it. I know that condition and strain affect it but damn its taking forever! In my sig there is my link to current strange mutant "He who cannot be named" "he who walks behind the... or never mind.:stoned:
