He's slightly confrontational, for example if I were to disagree with something he said, he would take it personally and say "why do you have to always disagree with me when you know you're wrong?", that kind of thing. Really kind of patronising, condescening on occasion......

This is what you should be worrying about...

I'd examine other parts of the friendship, like the guy's tendency to be a complete prick.
