What veg. nutes to get at Home Depot?

Hi all,

I think it's time to start feeding my little seedlings with some sort of 1/4 strength veg nutes (hopefully these will all be moms). Any suggestions? (Shall I spray the plants with the nutes solution as well??)

What should I pick up at my local Home Depot? I was told to avoid Miricle Grow at all costs.

Well aware of the search feature my friend, I just found conflicting answers to my questions....thus the new thread.

I've read that some use MG and that some avoiding it all together. I have a nursury near by, I was hoping to get some nutes today. If not, I have to order them....and I'd rather not order. Can anything be used from Home Depot?? Is MG ok? If so, what kind??

I hear MG is horrible, though some people use it. I've heard good things about the Fox Farm brand....

I use mg all purpose 24-8-16 for veg stage. I know of a few people on here that use this. I've read that they are nutes for dummies.....lol. And if they are 'seedlings' they are too young to feed. They should be a least 3-4 weeks old. To answer your question, there shouldn't be any reason to foliar spray....just in thier water and ph the water after adding nutes.

OK, so I managed to get some nuts/ferts. I have the following products:

1. Fish Emulsion (2-4-.05)
2. SHULTZ Plant food plus all purpose (10-15-10) in liquid form (+ micro-nuts)
3. DYNA-GRO Liquid plant food (7-9-5) w/trace elements
4. PETERS Pro. all purpose (20-20-20) (+ micro-nuts)

Seedlings are about 3 weeks old. I just transplanted them into 2 gal containers and have been feeding them nothing but distilled water. I also put them under a 400 watt MH and removed the florecents.

So from the list above, what should I use and how? Start with 1/4 strength I take it?? My guess is that I should only use ONE of the plant foods (Shultz, Dyna-Grow, or Peters) as well as the fish emulsion.

Fish emulsion instructions say to use just once a month, would that be correct for this application? (stuff stinks!!)

Been using the 10-15-10 with good results for about 3 weeks now. Heard while in veg should be 20-15-15 or something like that but couldnt find. But so far 10-15-10 been real good. lol dont listin to me about the dosage but i actually gave it the full dose with no problems but dont do that don't want problems to be on me , every says start with half strength first

yes if you use that one go with 1/2 strength and see how it affects them. If you use the 20-20-20, use 1/4 stregnth. Save the DynaGro for your houseplants.

I haven't used the fish emulsion so I can't advise you, but that would be the best product to use that you bought. However, does your product contain trace elements? If it doesn't, you'll have to supply them seperatley.....

DONT use the fish emulsion in conjunction with another nute (trace elements good another npk nute bahhhhhhhhd bad bad bad you'll burn them and throw the ph way out of whack). Make sure to ph your water after adding nutes.
