Give it time to resin up a bit, and i'm sure after that it'll be fine. I bet it's just little bits of cherry hitting your throat.

I agree. Once you get some resin, most of the little bits coming through the hole will stick to the resin instead (and consequently building up a nice treat later). Just don't take your hits too deep for the time being.

And yes, Jackelyne, that's a pipe. They're quite popular around here, and they don't look like penises (well, at least not like mine). It's one of the finest ways of smoking IMHO.

A nice glass pipe is always a good choice, but I love the variation of mixing in joints once in a while (dro joints are a real treat!!)...

Try to adjust the angle of pipe to mouth contact ratio.
Roatate the pipe up and down, side to side as you inhale. The result will change the point where the inhale hits your lung.

Lite the bud, then take the lighter away. That also may be your probelm.
You may want to try a screen. If your smoking cut-up but you may be getting burning embers in your throat.
