Reflux is living hell - I know your pain.
You do need to see a doc though if it keeps up as the damage caused by the acid can be nasty. The doc will have access to a range of treatments that (in the UK) you can't buy without a prescription. I'm not sure about the U.S but either way you would have to pay I'm sure!
OK some free stuff
1. Don't eat late at night - this is almost too obvious but still!
1a. That means YOU! Stoner! No late munchie runs...
2. Prop-up the top of the bed using some phone directories or something - you should be able to raise your upper body like this when you sleep and let gravity help you fight the reflux.
3. Avoid trigger foods like Sodas and pastries (well for me they are!) and hard to digest foods with skins like certain fruit/vegetables.
4. Avoid large, high-fat meals, especially in the few hours before bedtime. High-fat meals stimulate significant amounts of gastric secretions, which cause GERD flare-ups. Large meals are slowly digested – which means they sit in the stomach and intestinal tract longer (this can be especially problematic around bedtime).
5. When inflammation occurs, avoid acidic foods like orange juice, grapefruit or tomatoes.
6. Avoid highly spicy foods, as they may cause additional irritation. The two spices that are known to cause irritation are black pepper and chili powder. Also avoid any other spices that you know might cause you discomfort (your own triggers you know).
7. Avoid alcohol and beverages with caffeine. These stimulate acid secretions which may be irritating.
8. Never lie flat right after a meal. Always sit upright.
9. Avoid vigorous exercise right after eating. :rastasmoke:
10. Avoid smoking because this lowers LES pressure. Your LES is your lower esophageal Spinchter (sounds cool I know!) and basically if the pressure on this drops then it lets acid creep into your esophagus = not a good day.
To be honest I don't know if THC lowers LES pressure or if its just Cigs/Tobacco - but drop the cigs is never a bad idea.
Sorry about the Essay, mmmkay - Reflux sucks ass but if it goes on for a few weeks go see the doc as this shit can cause you serious long-term damage if you don't sort it out.

I had it the same - would wake me up and I would "almost always" puke up a bit of acid or pretty much just throw up on the way to the bathroom.
The doc would give you a drug to reduce acid production which worked for me, the antacids only cover it all upAfter I visited the doc and got sorted out my Reflux went away.
I had it for about 18months and was rid of it in a couple of weeks.
But I had a stomach ulcer as an underlying condition which was what needed treating. I could have taken antacids forever.....Minds are like parachutes, they both work best when open.

I used to have reflux real bad, too, Slip. A long time ago before I had my insides rearranged after a ruptured appendix. It's a miserable, bad deal. I would wake up at night practically choking on the acid that had backed up nearly to my throat. It was real bad during pregnancy, too, which is common. I never had it too bad during the day, luckily. Now I have to be checked regularly for changes in my esophagus that might signal early cellular changes that could lead to cancer down the road. Delta9's right that, money or not, it's important to have it correctly diagnosed and treated. Here's some info:
GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, Acid Reflux, Heartburn) by MedicineNet.com
The things they told me to do to to help cut down the chances of it happening were to elevate the head of my bed a few inches so I wasn't lying flat at night. To not eat anything, but especially not greasy foods or meats, which take longest to digest, within four to six hours of going to bed. Not to drink alcohol, which can increase acid production and also relax that lower esophageal sphincter that is supposed to keep things from backing up and out of your stomach. And to take one of the OTC acid blockers like Zantac, Pepsid AC or Tagamet regularly during the day and at least an hour before bed to block the creation of stomach acid. Nowadays, Prilosec is also available OTC, and it works well, too. They're not all acid blockers, but that's the end result they have. The link below has some good info about them:

I have extremely bad GERD. Constant unbearable pain. I've changed my diet and everything, it doesn't help. Doc put me on protonix(supposed to be very strong heartburn med), but it didn't help much after a while. The only thing that helps is cannabis(for me at least). I'm pretty sure it is the nicotine that is bad for gerd, and not the act of smoking. Cannabis for some reason allows food to go down my esophagus much more easily, and it takes away the seering pain, and stimulates my appetite so I can keep a decent weight, etc...
Does cannabis relieve anyone else's heartburn/gerd?

I have about the worst case of acid reflux one could imagine. I first had heartburn for about 5 months and it went away when I stopped using cannabis. I believe though that this was a result of the cessation of night timing eating binges that occurred concurrently. Coffee had to be stopped. And I saw a bunch of doctors and did alot of research and I've learned quite a bit, so here it is:
Acid reflux occurs whenever your stomach produces too much acid as a result of overeating, or eating the wrong kinds of "trigger foods," or when your lower esophageal sphincter (LES) does not function properly and keep acid from ascending back up the esophagus.
After a long period of continued reflux, one may get a condition called erosive esophagitis, which is where the acid erodes away at the lining of the esophagus and this takes time to heal. Also, if the acid makes it all the way back up to your throat and spills into the larynx, it only takes a couple of times of this to cause layrngealpharyngeal reflux disease, which I have as well, and is basically esophagitis of the larynx. It is sometimes called reflux laryngitis. Reflux laryngitis takes alot longer to heal and requires more intensive acid prohibiting therapy than regular esophagus reflux. This is because the larynx is much more sensitive to acid.
Caffiene definitely causes reflux because it relaxes the LES, allowing acid to freely move up the esophagus. Also, once the esophagus has been damaged, it is irritated and susceptible to further irritation when one consumes harmful things, such as acidic beverages/food. In patients with reflux laryngitis, smoking is not an option of anything because the smoke is far too irritating to the damaged larynx.
Nicotine also supposedly causes relaxation of the LES.
I've heard this debated among doctors and I've got different info from different websites, but a couple of my doctors have said that marijuana relaxes the LES as well, making reflux a bigger problem, however, I've also read on many sites of associations researching marijuana's medical purpose in GI tract problems that marijuana actually helps with reflux. Smoking anything though causes one to salivate less, and without the sodium bicarbonate being swallowed regularly like usually, alot of acid is not getting neutralized than otherwise would.
For this reason, I recommend that anyone having a problem with acid reflux, and especially those with larynx reflux, invest in a vaporizer, and make sure that it is one that heats by convection heating or else you might burn the weed a little bit and that smoke is not going to sit to well on that irritated esophagus or larynx.
