    My e-mail to them...

    Teens Ask Teens : Home

Mods, if you would please leave this in general for a while..seeing as this is the most active forum I would like people to have a gander at this if you don't mind.

I'm somewhat of an activist...and I get very emotional on the subject of marijuana..especially when I read things like at the DEA website..so I sent them a question..Give it a read. Oh yeah, still no reply. Come monday I'm going to send one back saying thanks for not caring about me or my life, it just shows that you have one mission, and it's not to HELP teens, it's to lie to them about marijuana and it being able to make people's lives better...

Here was my 'question' to Katie, which I got no reply..yet anyhow. it was the 4th of april..been 3 days.

"Yes katie, I'm 17 years old and I was in a car accident about a year ago. A few months afterwards I began experiencing back pain. I wake up every day with my back hurting. I used to take prescription painkillers. I was addicted to them, after a couple weeks of taking them, I found myself having to take more and more just to feel better until I stopped feeling better. I just got sick, any time I would try to take any pills. So I began looking on the internet. I learned that marijuana was very effective in eliminating pain without adverse side effects like those from prescriptions. It allows me to function normal in school and work because unlike with prescription pills, I can easily control my dosage to exactly what I need because I feel the effects within seconds. I use a vaporizer which eliminates all harmful carcinigens from the marijuana vapors, giving me only the therapeutic chemicals. I however live in one of the 38 states that do not have laws to protect people who benefit from the use of marijuana. I'm sorry, but the federal government provides 5 indidviduals with 300 marijuana cigarettes every month because they're in the federal medical marijuana program, now why can't they do this for me? Without it, my days would be unbearable. I know that if I get arrested I could be put in jail for a long time, but I can't do anything besides just hope for the best until I can move to one of the 12 states that recognize the medical benefit of marijuana, which maybe soon my legislators will care for me and the others who could possibly receive prison time for only wanting to feel better. Do you know anyone who is in the same situation as me?

    Thanks Katie,

    Marcus"

i feel your story, as most anyone here will... but all those 'marijuana is bad' orginzations won't be swayed by opinions/experiences, or facts/proof...

just my thoughts... i woudln't get too worked up if you don't get any answer... matter of fact, expect it...

It's attitudes like yours that have given us no legalization since 1970...thanks for nothing

And for the record, I don't expect much of an answer, but I've proven before that my e-mails have influenced Above The Influence to change things on their site and remove news reports from msnbc. And you can expect me to add these teen question people to my monthly list of e-mails.

Trust me, even if this makes one person out of 30 of those people who read it consider it..it's enough and I've done what I wanted.

you think sending an email to someone who's gonna read all of the first couple of lines and delete it is standing up?

standing up would be marching on congress... standing up would be donating to keep people like NORML in buisness, or offering your help to them...

sending an email is not standing up.. if it is, i've stood up far longer then you have...

i think you just feel all righteous and shit, and becuase i told you the truth you saw it fit to 'shoot me down', assuming i do nothing but accept what my govt. tells me.. or something along those lines...

it's obvious you feel 'greater' then me, yet you know nothing of what i've done to add to the fight of legalization...

yet you make an email, and act like you're some activist fighting for everyone's right to smoke...

i'm sorry, i can do nothing but laugh at you...

So what would you do if a cop is near you talking about MMJ being bs and nothing but a coy to get 'dope?'

Well I turned around and informed him that the federal government provides 5 people with marijuana every month so it obviously helps some people..he had nothing to say after that except for it was against the law. I regularly inform people around me when the topic is brought up. I've especially went off on two of my teachers for them telling b/s information to my fellow students about marijuana. I told them exactly how they were wrong and what was correct about it.

    That's what I do.

I'm in regular contact with the Oklahoma NORML representative, Norma Sapp. I plan to soon go to the state capital to have a meeting with her and a few legislators from around the state. I'm going to explain to them my situation..nearly what that e-mail is. And tell them that they need to change the laws because there are possibly hundreds of individuals in our great state who are criminals because our law doesn't accept something that greatly helps them when other drugs cannot.

    That's what I do.

so you're sitting there getting pissy at me because you're young and apathetic. I'm curious, are you even a registered voter?

What do you do? Besides critisise me because you have no fucking idea just how I feel about this.

I'm no marc emery, brother...which is exactly why I stated I'm only somewhat of an activist..due to it having to do with me regularly having to break the law..I can't be going on a march to washington dc with a joint in my mouth...I'm not that ballsy. but I most certainly am doing SOMETHING. that is more than you can say isn't it?

lol... i was never critisizing you to begin with... nor minimizing what you were doing. you're the one who took it way outta proportion. i was just telling you as a fellow pot smoker, to not expect much from an email to someone who couldn't give less of a shit.

no i'm not a registered voter, and there's a reason why. my vote DOESN'T count, first of all i live in texas, so that right there means a high republican vote, which of course i'm against, second of all, the US citizens voting, is for show only.... bush actually lost the 'popular vote' in 2000... yet he was appointed presidency anyways.

w/e dude, you can keep feeling all righteous if you want.. matter of fact you're the same person who invested a very lenghty reply to ATI, but honestly where did that get you? they're producing even more commercials now... "nothing changes if you don't fight" attitude is fine.. but first and foremost is common since... so yeah, i'm done with the thread, and no it's not me running away (for some reason here when two people are involved in an altercation and one decides to just let it go, the other tries to claim he's won or is scared) that's not the case.. i'm just being the better man and stepping back... think what you want of me, i honestly don't care.

ATI is producing much more ridiculous commercials now..I think we all can agree on that. And no, it just tells them that kids don't believe all of their b/s..that there are kids that know they're lying out of their ass and that the internet is a source to actual information rather than an opinion. That's what I proved to them by my lengththy and scientific e-mail to them.

..you and four or five of your stoner buddy's along with four or five buddy's from say several other people in your city..and then from the other cities in texas could make a difference if something did actually come up on your ballot..trust me. Think about it from a broad perspective. It isn't right for them to lie to us and punish us for doing something that isn't near as harmful as alcohol by any means.

Your vote does count. Everyone's vote counts. If everyone felt that their vote didn't count, there would be no point for elections...we would govern ourselves? I don't know why young people find voting so useless...it's the people making decisions for us..things that affect us.
