John McCain Beefs With Jon Stewart
Arizona Senator Goes On Comedic Offensive

Last night, presidential candidate John McCain (R) made his 10th and most combative appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Their nine minute shouting match about Iraq got off to a decidedly rocky start when McCain joked that he had brought an IED to put under Stewart's desk and then threatened (most likely in jest) to kick his dog.

From there the "debate" was punctuated by frequent interruptions on both sides and highlighted by the studio audience booing the former POW when he said that the majority of troops he spoke with feel they are fighting a worthwhile cause. Despite the booing, which Stewart attributed to their receiving free tickets, McCain remained stalwart in his position of continued faith in the troop surge strategy and support of the war holistically. He did become visibly ruffled when Stewart pointed out that "you cannot look a solider in the eye and say: questioning the president is less supportive of you than extending the tour 3 months," feigning a karate chop at the diminutive host. McCain, who is the most frequent guest in The Daily Show's history, said that last night would be his final appearance. Whether he was serious, or this was just the first in a long line of campaign promises, remains to be seen.

Best Line: Stewart on the continued support of a "failed" Iraq strategy: If the architects that built a house without doors or windows don't admit that that's the house they built and continue to say it's your fault for not being able to see into it, I don't see how we can move forward?"

As I've stated before, Jon Stewart is a great news pundit and comedian. He holds the administrations feet to the fire, and in a comical way he gets the point accross. If you only watched one news commentary, you'd get more truth out of Stewarts show than any others I've seen, and I've watched them all!
