Any tips before cancer use?
Real sorry about your friend's wife's mom, Plastic Jesus. That's so kind of you to want to make that gesture.
The folks above are right. Weed helps with the side effects from chemo, but it depends on what type of chemo she's on because several of them are rough on the lungs and also on the mouth, throat, trachea and esophagus. If your friend's mom is not an experienced former smoker of cigarettes or weed and doesn't already know how to inhale, this might not necessarily be the time to get her started smoking weed. It's sometimes mighty harsh on even the healthiest of folks, much less terminally ill, frail ones. Vaping is a great option for cancer patients.
What we found with my older sister, who had ovarian cancer, was that the higher grade weed was definitely better. It had more THC and was also smoother and easier to smoke. We found that indicas, which are very hard to find on the street, were better for much pain and sedation than sativas. Both strains and hybrids are fairly good on nausea. Ultimately for her, prescribed pain meds were better for pain relief than weed, but Bess didn't smoke for a very long period. It mostly helped lift her mood, ease her nausea, and give her some appetite. As she got sicker after ending the last round of chemo, she felt less and less like eating, which is totally normal. Their bodies have a way of doing what they need to do to take care of the business of slowing down and stopping, and ceasing to eat is a natural part of that. (It's sometimes the hardest thing for families to let patients do, according to our hospice team.) We were so grateful for the relief that she got from the two-and-a-half-month period she smoked weed. I just wish we'd found it for her sooner.
I second what THCBongman said. Here's hoping she goes with dignity, with loving friends and family around her, and with well-managed pain.birdgirl73 Reviewed by birdgirl73 on . Any tips before cancer use? So my best friend's wife's mom is dying of cancer. It started as breast cancer that has moved to her stomach. The Dr.'s pretty much told her she can stop doing chemo as it is too far gone. They don't expect her to last more than 6 months. I want to give my buddie's wife some weed and try to get her mom to smoke. Anything I should tell them? She has a lot of trouble eating and even pukes up water. Thanks in advance all.
