All U.S. (probably worldwide) media lacks credibility. Doesn't matter if it's PrisonPlanet, Fox News, or someone in between. It's all about the $. The truth is rarely as exiting as the 1/2 or 1/4 truth, in fact it's usually rather boring. Boring doesn't sell newspapers, get viewers, or hits on a website and, more importantly, boring doesn't sell advertising space. So, these "truthful" stories are carefully crafted to get the desired audience's attention, keep it, and lead them to believe whatever the particular media source, and their sponsors, want them to believe. Some people will look at that news, call "bullshit" and leave, but for many others the hook will be set. Then that specific media source just keeps feeding the same crap out and it's audience eagerly eats it up.

As for PrisonPlanet specifically, a quick look at their sponsors say's a lot. Water Filters and long-term storable food?? They cater to unibomber types; people terrified of the government and hiding out in a cabin deep int the woods. Sories like "Man's homemade flying saucer to be developed as surveillance drone" don't really give me confidence that they are 100% truthful without any agenda. Sure, it's the "truth" but like I mentioned above, it's a truth that's been carefully crafted to give it exactly the kind of spin they want it to have.

Take, for example, any story that starts out "Expert in the field states that.....". Now, it doesn't really matter if they contacted 1000 "experts" in the field and only one, the guy who was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia and generally considered a crackpot in his field, agreed with what they wanted to hear. They just don't mention the other 999 experts. Technically, it isn't a lie. The truth is they found an "expert" that told them what they wanted. Right???

But hey, believe what you want. What right do I have to tell you to take off the tin-foil hat.
