I just recently moved to Los Angeles and am having a hard time trying to find a connection to get some herb and have heard many times about the clinics/herb clubs around the area and I'm wondering if someone could give me a sort of rundown on how they work?

Do you NEED a doctor referral? What paperwork is involved, etc.

I'd appreciate any help

first thing you need to do is check out "norml.com"
look under california "pot docs"
make an appt
pay the fee [150.00]

then go spend all your money in the clubs

if i was you id buy a light and grow
its easy and cheap and the buds are better

some buds sell for 25-30 a gram

Does one need to prove that you would use it for medical reasons or are you allowed to just do it for personal? and i'm having trouble finding the "pot docs" on that website
