You can get away with using just one,I don't know much about these newfangled compact floros,one thing you might consider,is if it's a 2 bulb light,is to get a warm white floro bulb,for when you're in the flowering stage. So,what you wind up with,is one cool white bulb and one warm white bulb in the same fixture. You want to maintain the veg growth,even during flowering,but also provide the red part of the spectrum to enhance flower growth and simulate the fall sun. There are cheaper floros available that you could probably afford-that you can add to your total wattage.
