transplanting after 12/12
im tired of throwing pots of soil away after the males show up after a few weeks of flowering... do you think waiting for the plants to show sex and then transplant would cause to much stress??

Would continue to do the extra work and give your babies the attention they deserve, they will reward you friend. Stressing them during flowering is asking for problems IMO.

transplanting after 12/12
I always used to transplant in week 2-3 of flowering to save space and light in my garden (more continuous canopy, less light loss to the soil surface).
It was never a problem for me, I just gave them one feeding after transplant that contained superthrive or another source of Thiamine (any transplanting solution). If you have the skills to transplant properly, when you do it is less of an issue.
