you dont need intense light for the seedlings, but you do... hard to explain, a flouro works great in the situation cause u dont worry about too much light or heat. Im not sure whats wrong with them but the light could get much closer, just watch for heat thats the only thing. Also they stay the same size for a while growing roots, they will pick up how long since they broke soil? it takes about 2 weeks for a seedling to start to really grow.

I'd be very careful about moving a 400W closer to seedlings. If you do that, and see the plants reacting with negative phototropism (leaves turning away from the light) then you're over lighting them. Safest course is to use flouro on seedlings. Alot of this is a waiting game.

By the pics. I say kick back on the water and focus on some CFLs. You don't need to use such a strong lights before flowering. . .

hey all, well they'll be about two weeks old on Sunday, guess i'm not giving them enough time, i used cfl's to start the first few then put them under the mh and they look great,,,maybe i'll use cfl's for the first two weeks them put em under the mh...i know cfl's are the new craze...but everyone says mh and then hps is the ticket...i'll do some further searching, if they don't start shaping up after sunday, i'll put em under cfl's and see what happens

noticed that the plants today are beginning to show signs of growth, maybe its because i have had the curtain shut lately due to cold temps...currently its 30degrees F outside and my growroom is struggling to stay around 70 so i moved the mh down 2 in. and am using a lil of the heat to keep my babies b/t 70-74...let u kno what happens
