    Protecting Tehran, knifing Tony Blair

Now that she has won House passage of legislation that would micromanage the way to defeat in Iraq, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi finds herself struggling to come up with a coherent policy toward Iran. Unfortunately, in a desperate effort to appease the hard left of the blogosphere (which worries that Pelosi and the Democratic leadership are insufficiently capitulationist) she has behaved contemptuously toward one of America's closest allies: Great Britain, and in particular, Prime Minister Tony Blair. Before the House adjourned on Thursday, Mrs. Pelosi refused to permit a vote on House Resolution 267, which condemns Iran for the illegal seizure of British marines and sailors in Iraqi waters March 23.
The resolution was introduced exactly one week ago by Rep. Mark Kirk, Illinois Republican, and was reported out the following day by the House Foreign Affairs Committee. (The panel is chaired by Mrs. Pelosi's fellow California Democrat, Rep. Tom Lantos, who presently is accompanying her on a trip to the Middle East.)

Thank god pelosi has the common sense to block another neocon scheme to start WWIII. Frightening as it is, the democrats are our only chance.i

OK, I have been leaning on the side that these actions of Iran are wrong and the Brits should get their soldiers back by whatever meens possible.

Lots of people are saying that the neocons want a new world war, its the fault of Bush and Blair, this is all scammed, the GPS co-ordinates were faked, etc.

My question is this, OK, lets try it your way. What would you suggest the Brits do?

After all this is the fault of Bush and Blair, they are starving for oil to line their pockets with cash, they hate under developed countries and have no concern for human life, so im with you. they suck and should be tried on war crimes.

But in the meen time? what should be done?

Now that she has won House passage of legislation that would micromanage the way to defeat in Iraq, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi finds herself struggling to come up with a coherent policy toward Iran. So, talking to your "enemy" is definately not in your (or the Neocons) playbook. This is the policy of small minds. What is to be lost in conversing with Syria or Iran for that matter. I'll tell you what. We might have to make some concessions. Since when did disputes ever get settled with one way policies. These only lead to war and more war. Even the Guru of libertarians Ron Paul has suggested doing away with the CIA, the harbinger of all things evil to foriegn countries. We can no longer bully our way through the global community so a few elites can retain global power. We must wake up to the needs and policies of other nations and build a cohesive global partnership with the rest of the planet. We must recognize that other countries have the un-alienable right to pursue their own agendas as long as they don't interfere in our national interests, (and by this I don't mean corporate interests). It's about time someone from our government made an attempt to control this run-away neocon state that exists now, the plutocrats that are ruling the U.S. are bringing us to the brink of global meltdown. The right wing Christian zealots are charging full steam towards the Biblical Armegeddon they see so clearly in their pin-heads. The vision where the U.S. brings the end by thermonuclear warfare in the middle east, and then as Bushco says, it will follow us home.
