thats not all too true. maybe speaking for yourself it is to you.

if someone calls me something im not, then yeah i find that pretty offensive. the fact that there is no truth behind it is a part of it being so offending. havnt you heard anyone say something along the lines of "you dont know me, dont act like you do"?

Indeed they do. I'm not sure that BA knows any people who would happily explain this to him.

Breuk, in your comments on these boards, you personally have shown more disdain, derogation and derision about more groups than anyone I can think of, from poor single parents to Muslims to women to goodness only knows how many others, and that fact makes it particularly ironic that you should be choosing right now to whine about terms that are a fairly general part of the lexicon.

I'm going to say this to you because I think it needs saying, Breuk. If you find these terms so offensive, then you clearly need to plan to spend time someplace else where your delicate--and strangely contradictory--sensibilities are not going to be offended by reading them.

Something's up with you. Not sure if it's because you're actually deeply unhappy about some aspect of your own life or what. But in recent weeks, you've been determined to find "exterior" things here to take issue with. And it seems like what you really need to do is fix the only thing you have any real control over, which is much more limited: it's simply your own reaction. If you have a personal aversion to the two terms in question, the solution is quite simple. Stop reading.

This is a suggestion forum. Hatred of poor southern people is not a good idea to promote while other groups are protected. The "Rednecks" are the last minority that are permitted to be subjected to stereotypes, and worse.

I didn't expect to be told, in so many words, to "get lost". You have attacked me, personally, many times without cause, simply because you disagree with my opinion(s). Your "redneck" posting was a slur against a group of people that are the working class of this country.

You are perfectly welcome to provide examples of what you think are my deficiencies in tolerance, but I doubt that they are as bad as the hatred shown toward the working class people called "Rednecks" - unless you're talking about radical, militant Islamic jihads and their supporters.

A number of other people agree with me that it is wrong to allow "Redneck" and similar insults, and ban other racist words.

If you don't like my posts, then you can "stop reading" them as well.

I see your point BA, but anyone would think your trying to get banned. It's been said that it wont be changed, so we must accept it and move on. I hate this saying, but in this case its true - sticks and stones and baseball bats will break my bones but words will never hurt me. It's just letters on the internet.

I was willing to drop it, but there has been a renewed interest in the subject. Fine if I get banned. I didn't insist that they do it - this is a suggestion forum. All I would like to see is the word "Redneck" replaced with asterisks, like the other banned words. Apparently, there must be a scapegoat and the poor Whites are the ones that have been chosen for this injustice.

Actually, all I've done is argue with you. You feel threatened by that. And so you regard it as an attack. It's much easier to call me an elitist or a snob than to actually look at yourself, isn't it?

LIP is right. Are you really wanting to get banned?

On what grounds? Go ahead - be my guest and ban me. At least I'll sleep better knowing that I stood up for what is right.

I think this has all got a little heated and we all need to take a step back and try and bury all this bad feeling - and that's comming from me of all people.
