American whites WERE very much "enslaved" - and the modern "Rednecks" ancestors were, to a large degree, indentured servants who were worked to death alongside the African slaves in Virginia, and many other places. In fact, the term Redneck was invented during the days of Indentured Servitude - because working in the cotton fields make the white servants necks bright red.

Well, I dunno about "white trash" or "redneck", but I know I got a nice infraction for referring to Marshall Mathers as a "honkey". I didn't even think I was using a racial slur when I posted it.
