    old grower new technology

imp: OK? got 4 plants from seed. Been under 400W MH lamp (24 hou) in soil. 50 days.
Have toped (2) times each. 16~24? tall. Very healthy? Have not shown any signs of sex.

I nowhave separate lighting (400W MH) and up separate Ebb and flow room seperated by mylar curtain? not perfect but I think it will work.

My intention is to cut (4) soil grown plants back to 12 / 12 and hope for femails. If so move cuttings to ebb and flow on (24) hrs.

After the MOMs have show their sex and cutting are made can I turn the light back up to (18~24) and keep them for clone / mothering stock. or will they continue to flower?

Sounds like the making of hermsville. Get yer areas light tight, it will make things so much better. Going from soil to hydro ? Good luck.

24 hours with a 400 watt MH is a waste of electricity. Never ever ever was sold on that 24 hour deal. On a side note (less light produces more females) according to one seedbank. But if 24 hours works fer ya, keep on rockin.

i can personally denounce the last statement. my temps are in the sixties, veg under 24/0 the whole time, and i've had 100% fems for 18 plants now. as a matter of fact, i'm having troubles making males for breeding, it's becoming quite a headache.

less light makes for more root mass, but with superthrive, i've had absolutely no downsides to this light cycle. i will be changing to 18/6, now that temps are higher, i originally had the constant light cycle for heating purposes.

also, the plan to put confirmed cuttings in the ebb and flow room are sound, i think there is a misunderstanding of your plan. if you want to keep the moms, then yes, they will need to reveg, otherwise, just pitch the plant and go with your cuts.

SS, thats why you grow your way, and I grow mine. I have other things I prefer doing with my money than giving it to the power company. Not that an extra 10-15 bucks/month is going to change my life, but it's just a good in my pocket as theirs.

This board is about opinions, methods, and suggestions I thought. That is exactly what I offered. And I will say it again. Vegging 24/7 with a 400 watt light is a waste of power in my opinion. (See, its mah opinion only)

More blue light ups your odds for females, so it is not a suprise that if you veg under a MH you would produce more females.

One may veg 2 plants under 4 1000 watt MH's and 4 8 bulb T5's for side lighting, and it works for them. Again, in "their opinion" if that works, so be it.

You can denounce, disregard, or ignore anything I say. I am fine with that, too. But I am certainly entitled to an opinion here, as are you. Last time I looked Old Glory was still flying proudly in my front yard, so it must be America.

    Forever green,

whoa whoa, hey chill out sweetie! i meant no offense, and i agree 100% about power consumption. the only part i argued was the female ratio. this is from my personal experience, not from writings or reports, and my be a fluke. as you say, these forums are here for us to post our opinions, that was mine. i didn't mean to piss you off, just to offer some additional input.

and it is deff true that blue spec produces more fems, that's probably part of the reason for my sucess.

and, i have served this country, and respect y/our freedoms and flag as much as anyone else in this country, more than most.

so, with all this coming out, peace and love, bonger; may your days be bright, and your herbs bright green, like that new dot you got
