Never go from hot water to cold water quickly or vise versa it weakens the glass big time in the long run.

It broke right where the down stem goes into the bong itself. I have sworn before and gave in, but this confirms it! I will NEVER EVER buy an expensive piece again, stoners and glass just don't mix.
